Lucknow: Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Police has intensified its action against illegal religious conversion. The Lucknow Police have arrested a so-called “white-coat love jihadi” who allegedly committed crimes under the guise of the medical profession. The accused, Rameezuddin Nayak alias Rameez, allegedly raped an MD Pathology student of KGMU for several months on the pretext of marriage and also pressured her to convert her religion. The Yogi government had announced a reward of ₹50,000 for the absconding accused.
According to the police, an FIR was registered at Chowk Police Station on December 23, 2025, based on the victim’s complaint. The victim stated that the accused doctor Rameez sexually exploited her for several months by promising marriage and also got her abortion done without her consent. Thereafter, the accused allegedly began pressuring her to change her religion.
During the investigation, it emerged that the accused had used the same modus operandi with another medical student as well. He allegedly raped her, forced an abortion, and later got her married after religious conversion. The probe also revealed the involvement of the accused’s family members. Consequently, additional serious charges were added to the case. The accused’s father, Saleemuddin, and mother, Khateja, have already been arrested and are currently in judicial custody. The names of other associates have also surfaced.
Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s zero-tolerance policy, efforts to trace the absconding accused were intensified. The Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime and Headquarters) announced a reward of ₹50,000 on the accused.
A joint operation was carried out by Chowk Police Station and the West Lucknow Surveillance Team. Acting on inputs from informers and electronic evidence, the accused Dr. Rameezuddin Nayak alias Rameez was arrested on Friday afternoon near the City Station, Lucknow Gate.
Police said the accused is a hardened criminal who misused his identity as a doctor. Other related cases are also being investigated, and further legal proceedings are underway. The Yogi government has made it clear that those committing crimes under the cover of a white coat will not be spared. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, women’s safety remains the top priority.
